A letter of application typically provides detailed information on why are you are qualified for the job you are applying for. Effective application letters explain the reasons for your interest in the specific organization and identify your most relevant skills or experiences.

What’s the purpose?

- Should let the employer know what position you are applying for

- Why the employer should select you for an interview

Generic Structure :

1. salutation

2. introduction

3. main message or body

4. the close

5. complimentary close

Language Feature :

1. use the present tense

2. use the verbs to indicate actions and feelings

3. use the future tense for suggesting solutions to problems the job

how to write an application letter?

When writing an application letter for a job, follow these steps to make sure you include information about yourself and your professional experience that will appeal to a hiring manager.

1. Review information about the company and position

2. Use a professional format

3. Create the heading

4. Address the letter to the hiring manager

5. Open the letter by describing your interest

6. Outline your experience and qualification

7. Include aspects of your personality

8. Express appreciation

9. Close the letter

What is a caption text?

Caption text is brief description, heading, or title that identifier or introduces a document, graphic, photograph, or table.

Definition:

Caption is a short text consist of additional information which available in the pictures/photos. Usually it’s located below the picture itself.

Caption text used to give further information related to a picture or simply just to decorate it to look better.

What is the social function of captions?

The social function of caption is helping the reader or viewer to understand information that may not be in a photo or a video.

What the structure and language features used in captions?

The structure used in captions:

- the little

- the lead

- section headings

The language features used in captions:

- exclamation

- question

- adjective phrase

- prepositional phrase
